Logo for Papal Visit to Scotland

Above is the recently chosen logo for the Holy Father's visit to Scotland, designed by my good friend Greg Millar. Greg is a practising Catholic, married with three young children and it was his idea to produce a special logo for the Scottish leg of the visit. He worked at the BBC for many years as a graphic designer where his work included the red ball logo for Match of the Day as well as designs for Top of the Pops and Grandstand.

I like the logo: it strikes me as serious and respectful without being stuffy. The text is taken from Pope Benedict's address to 20,000 young people gathered at St Joseph's Seminary in New York in 2008: "The hope which never disappoints is Jesus Christ". The logo thus helps to keep the focus of the visit firmly on Christ.
